About PEACC

Pakistan Earthquake Coordination Committee (PEACC) was created to launch and coordinate an Australia-wide appeal for the victims of South Asian earthquake.

A magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan, on October 8, 2005, at 8:50 a.m. local time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The most affected areas are the North West Frontier Province (NWFP), Northern Punjab, and Pakistani-administered Kashmir in Pakistan, and Indian-administer Kashmir in India.

The un-official death toll is now considered to be much higher than 90,000 with more than 120,000 injured and over 3 million left homeless.

PEACC is appealing Australian Federal, State and Local Governments, businesses, community organisations, professionals, and general public to assist with relief effort
